The official awareness team for the Year of Traditional Economy recently completed a 3-week tour of TAFEA Province in the month of March. This is the first provincial tour out of a year’s worth of tours of all Provinces of Vanuatu raising awareness about the objectives of the Year of the Traditional Economy and how members of each community can play their part

I read by candlelight last night.
About an hour after I lay down with my book, just as my eyes were beginning to feel heavy, I saw motion out of the corner of my eye. A six inch centipede was ambling across my floor, casually searching for his next repast.
Dressed only in my knickers, I leaped off the bed and safely over him, frantically fumbled about for a weapon – any weapon – as I watched him disappear under my bed. There was nothing to hand, and a quick search of the kitchen came up short. In desperation, I grabbed the nearest hard-cover off my bookshelf and lay in wait.
I crouched with my eyes level to the floor, peering through the dim light, trying to see where he had gone. Again my peripheral vision saved me. While I was preparing my defenses, he had completed his under-the-bed reconnaissance and moved on to the toilet. I spotted him on the return part of his patrol, only inches from my head.
The bombing raid was successful. I got a square-on hit, with no stingers or tentacles exposed. Aside from a sticky patch on the floor, the good guys took no losses.
When I woke in the morning, I inspected my weapon of minor destruction. The gods must have been laughing last night, because the book they put in my hand was by Terry Pratchett.
